Wayne Kirkman, son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully early Saturday morning October 5, 2024, at the Sandstone - Millcreek Care Center in Millcreek, Utah at the age of 65 after many years battling Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Wayne was born to James Dean and Rae Ann Kirkman in Salt Lake City, Utah, September 16, 1959. He attended Cyprus High School. Became a father to Jeremey in 1978, Jeanna in 1981 and to Austin in 1991. Wayne had several jobs throughout his lifetime until he landed his long-time job with Blanchard Metals working as a machinist/fabricator. Wayne enjoyed going to the gym to “workout”. He learned about bodybuilding. He trained to compete and competed in several bodybuilding competitions. Wayne had a strong determination at anything he set his mind too. He became a big Miami Dolphins fan while Dan Marino was playing and stayed a fan after Marino retired. Wayne was an avid coin collector and enjoyed listening to music. He liked to ride his motorcycle, drive his corvette, go dancing at the Westerner, traveling, camping and boat racing.
Wayne Kirkman leaves behind his children: Jeremey (Amy) Kirkman, and Jeanna (TJ) Sloan, his siblings: Dena Brooks and Kevin (Jirapha) Kirkman, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father James Dean Kirkman, September 2, 2016, and his mother Rae Ann Kirkman, May 20, 2024.
A very special thanks goes out to the compassionate team of angels from the Sandstone-Millcreek Care Center and Optum for the care they gave Wayne while he was in their care the past several years. Much appreciation goes out to the Rocky Mountain Hospice team for the comfort you provided Wayne through to the end. Also, a gigantic thank you to Brad and Gail Ottley for always being there to ensure Wayne got the best care possible. These groups played a valuable role in Wayne’s care for the past several years. “Thank you” doesn’t seem like enough.
At Wayne’s request, there will be no viewing or services.
Graveside: Friday, October 11, 2024, at 1 PM.
Interment: Payson City Cemetery, 400 N 800 E, Payson, UT 84651
