Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend George Robert Watt, Jr., age 83 years, passed away July 10, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at his home in West Valley City, Utah.
He was born January 1, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan to George Robert Watt, Sr. and Jane (Lane) Watt. George was a second prize New Year’s Day baby. He married his sweetheart, Shirleen (Beesley) Watt on August 7, 1965 and they were blessed with five children.
He grew up on a 60 acre farm in Chesaning, Michigan. He worked on the farm with his father. They grew crops and raised Hereford cows. George took one Hereford to the Michigan State Fair and placed 5th place in the Junior Livestock.
He graduated from Chesaning Union High School in 1955. While in Michigan he worked for H.J. Heinz, Eaton Manufacturing and also drove a truck for a dairy company. He was drafted into the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was granted an honorable discharge. He retired from the Tooele Army Depot.
George was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, being baptized by his father-in-law, Norman W. Beesley. He is a member of the Hunter 9th Ward.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping at Strawberry Reservoir with his family. He also enjoyed bowling in leagues and was aspiring to become a professional bowler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirleen; children; Dixie (Paul) Smith; Laura (Jeremy) Davey; Lisa (John) Griffiths; Jason (Kristin) Watt; Ellen (Barry) Harmon; grandchildren; Hunter (Isabel) Smith; Lina and Ornela Davey; Luke and Annika Griffiths; Preston and Hazel Watt; Jazey Drecksel, Casey and Baylei Harmon; great grandchild, Aurora Smith; sister, June Watt. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jane Watt; sister, Jane Fuller and four grandchildren, Alisha and Ashley Richardson; Jaesha and Audrey Smith.

A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 6-8 pm at the Hunter 9th Ward, 7035 W. Loch Ness Ave. (3605 South), West Valley City. In honor of George’s memory, funeral services will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 10:30 AM with a viewing at 9:30 AM at the Hunter 9th Ward. Interment to follow services at Valley View Memorial Park 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
