Eris Estella Jackson Swapp, 92, passed away on March 17, 2019. She was born on May 8, 1926 in Fredonia, Arizona to Robert “Earl” Jackson and Sarah Judd Jackson. She was the 6th of 11 children, 4 boys and 7 girls. She always said she had a great childhood. They were able to play all day (after their work was done) and not have to be home until dark.
She married Lloyd Mack Nelson on August 18, 1941. They had 2 daughters, Charmon Laree and Margaret Elena. They later divorced.
She then married Angus Spencer Swapp on Nov. 1, 1951. They had 4 more children, Lexianne, Estella, Deborah Sue, and Angus Mathew. A total of 5 girls and 1 boy. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George temple Dec. 12, 1953.
She was an active member in the LDS church. She held many callings including Primary music leader and teacher, Relief Society teacher, visiting teacher, and Relief Society President for 5 yrs. She was a very organized person which helped her in all aspects of her life. She was the president of the DUP. She was instrumental in making sure records and history from their chapter in Logan, Utah were taken care of properly and sent to BYU Historical Records Department.
She worked as a telecommunications specialist for the State of Utah while Norman Bangerter was Governor. She loved this job and worked there until she turned 75yrs old.
She went on a mission to Independence, MO when she was 78.
She has a great heritage and posterity. She had 6 children, 24 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Eris is survived by children Charmon Crozier, Lexianne Swapp, Estella (Paul) Jensen, Deborah (Brent) Staples, Matthew (Ana) Swapp and son-in-law, Lee Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert “Earl” and Sarah Jackson, her husband, Angus Spencer Swapp, her daughter Margaret Elena Bailey, and great-granddaughter, TyLee Mae Bagley, all 10 of her brothers and sisters and several grand and great-grandchildren.
She had a lot of friends and was greatly loved by all. She will be greatly missed.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Valley View Funeral Home, located at 4335 W 4100 S in West Valley City, Utah from 11:00-11:45 a.m. Funeral Services will follow at 12 p.m. at the same location.
