Elmer Earl Sadler, 87, of West Valley City, Utah, passed away at his home on November 24, 2016. He was born February 26, 1929 in Bridgeport, Alabama to William Caleb Sadler and Alta Ruth Meeks. Elmer served his country in the United States Navy from March 1946 to December 1947 as a Seaman First Class and spent 18 months in occupied Japan. After his time in the navy, Elmer married Jean Wenerstrom on September 30, 1948 in Midvale, Utah and they shared 68 wonderful years together.
For most of his working life, Elmer was a mill worker at Kennecott Copper in Magna, Utah. He was also an entrepreneur and the sole proprietor of Curly’s TV for a time. Elmer’s Catholic faith guided him throughout his life, and it was apparent in the way he lived. He was a man of unflinching honesty and integrity, and he showed what it means to be a husband and father by his acts and deeds. He will be missed, but he will always be with us through our own striving to live the lessons he has taught us.
Elmer is survived by his wife Jean, his children Steve (Sheena), Colleen (Gary) Wilde, Dave, Dick (Lynda), Marty (Joy), Doug (Patty), Lynette (Bret) Poulsen, Randy (Melody) and Paula, his brother “Hod”, as well as 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
