Curtis Wade Bentley was born June 19, 1960 in Provo, Utah, the 3rd child of 6 children to Curtis Vail and Virginia Sue Bentley. He died Friday, August 4, 2023, at Intermountain Medical Center due to complications during surgery.
He married in 1979 and had 4 children while earning a master’s degrees. The marriage later ended in divorce. Wade taught poetry and English for over 30 years. His own poetry was published in dozens of national and regional journals. He published a book of original poetry, “What is Mine,” and shared it in several readings across the Intermountain West. You’d most often find Wade in the mountains close to his home. He was an avid hiker and a lover of wildflowers and all things nature. Though relationships became complicated during the last stretch of his life, he nevertheless helped to build fond memories with his children and grandchildren.
Wade is survived by his 4 children, 5 grandchildren, father and 5 siblings.
Our special thanks to Intermountain Medical Centers Trauma department for their conscientious and dedicated efforts to keep Wade comfortable and their care of him during his short stay there.
He will be genuinely loved and missed.
