She was born July 3, 1943, to Donald and Veda Bringhurst in Magna, Utah. Carol was the third of six children and enjoyed growing up in small town Magna with her siblings and many lifelong friends.
Carol met Darrell Bell at Cyprus High School, and on March 20th, 1961, at the ripe old age of 17, they eloped to Paris, Idaho to get married. They probably thought it would sound cool to say they’d gotten married in Paris.
Mom and Dad were married for 29 years. They loved us kids. They had many good friends that they enjoyed spending time with, especially bowling in mixed men’s and women’s leagues. Their marriage was filled with good times and some challenges, and though they eventually divorced, they always shared a love for their family.
For most of our childhood, Mom stayed home, creating a clean, safe, and loving place for us to grow up. Later on, she took a part-time job at K-Mart, where she worked for many years and formed additional lifelong friendships. Mom loved talking on the phone with her friends, her mom, or her sisters, sharing laughter, stories and the latest gossip. She spent many years bowling with close friends in an all-women’s league. Mom had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Sometimes she could be a little mischievous though, like the time she swapped butterscotch pudding with a spoonful of mustard sauce the same color and feeding it to an unsuspecting kid waiting eagerly with his mouth open.
Our mom's greatest accomplishment, of which she was immensely proud, was raising her family. Nothing brought her more joy than her children sharing with her their achievements. She and Dad taught us the value of hard work, loyalty to each other, and the importance of fiercely loving our own families.
Our mom leaves behind a lasting legacy in a family that embodies these values. She is survived by her children, Cory (Holly) Bell, Don (Alica) Bell, Tami Anderson, and James (Bridget) Bell; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Kay and Christine, and her brother, David.
