Brian Kent Gallagher, loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather great grandfather, and friend passed away under the loving care of his wife in the early morning hours on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the age of 90 years old at the Legacy Retirement Residence in South Jordan, Utah.
Brian was born April 6, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Roland Gallagher and Clella (Olson) Gallagher. He attended South Cache High School and graduated in 1953. Brian met Jane Snow after his service in the U.S. Army. They Married on October 6, 1956 and sealed a year later on November 22, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Brian had a long career of 35 years at Amoco Oil Refinery and retired in 1990. While there he worked as a Machinist Supervisor and a Volunteer Fire Chief. He enjoyed his service work in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including a couple of missions and serving in the temple. He loved cars, working on cars and going to car shows. He enjoyed reading Western, Fantasy, and Si- Fi books. He loved spending time with his family, wife and children and grandchildren, including family gatherings, vacations and helping them with projects. He had a lot of fun paintballing with his family and friends late into his 70’s. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed marching with his family in the Salt Lake City’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Brian taught by his good example, frequently sharing his testimony about his belief in Heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ. His family was of the utmost importance to him. He encouraged everyone to serve and have fun. He left a great legacy. He is greatly loved and will be missed so much. Rest well until we meet again.
Brian is survived by his wife, Jane Snow Gallagher and their children: Kerry (Jeff) Smith, Kevin (Krista) Gallagher, Clifford (Marie) Lewis, Coreen (Les) Edwards and Erin (Lynn) Myers, along with his youngest brother Kelly (Barbara) Gallagher, eighteen grandchildren, and forty two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers, grandson Kory Kent Gallagher and great grandson Samuel Dickison.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday January 4, 2025, at 4715 S. 4300 W. Kearns, Utah 84118 (Academy Park Ward). An informal “Meet & Greet” will be held from 9:00-9:45 a.m. and the service will begin at 10:00 a.m. The internment will be held at the Valley View Memorial Park (4400 W. 4100 S. West Valley City, UT 84120), directly following the service.
