Dear Annetta--
I am so sad to hear about Doug's passing.  I know it is weird to hear from me after all these years.
When I heard about his accident all kinds of memories of you and him flooded my mind.  I remembered being in Jr. high and being invited to a sleepover at your home.  I remember we had delicious homemade donuts--I still have that recipe.  I remember a fun night at your home.  I think Kent and I lived in Ohio when you and Doug were married.  I was so happy for Doug when I heard that he was marrying you.  Doug and I were good friends.  We worked together in our Stake YSA program.  In fact the night I met Kent (my Husband) we were in a Mello Drama together.  Doug was the Villain and I was the Villainess.  Doug was never a Villain in real life.  He was always kind to others.  I can't imagine how hard this all must be for you!  The night I heard he passed-I couldn't stop crying for you.  Sending you my care and tears for you--LOVE--Eileen Holbrook Gale

Annetta—I was so sad to hear about Doug’s passing. He was a special friend of mine before I met Kent my husband during our early college years.  We would drive back and forth together every day to school and worked closely together in our YSA callings.   When I heard of his death memories flooded back to mind and wouldn’t stop.  I have written a special card for you—but I can’t come up with your address. I would like to send it on to you. Could you possibly text your address to 8014481186. Doug was a good guy. I love all the pictures of him being a fun grandpa and his younger pictures showing what a character he could be.
I remember running into him at a couple of scouting events. You could tell he loved Scouting and the community.
I love your family and wish I could be at the funeral to give you all hugs.


Dear Anita and Moeller Family:

How I wish I could attend the funeral, and give each of you a hug!

Bishop Moeller played such a key role in my life, was such a good man and such a good example to me.

I appreciated his strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. I appreciated seeing the love Bishop Moeller had for our Savior, and the tears he would shed as he bore fervent witness of the Atonement and of our Father’s Great Plan of Happiness.

When we would sing together in the Ward Choir, likewise I was impressed by Bishop Moeller’s love for our Savior and his powerful testimony. We both sang tenor, and as a young man I naturally would listen to and follow his voice—“God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son,” we sang—and other scriptural texts, bearing witness of our Savior.

I loved Bishop Moeller’s humility. I loved his example as father and husband. He was a family man, loved his family so much. He was a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

I pray that you all will find comfort in knowing of the peace your husband/father is experiencing at this time.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose your companion/patriarch—such a wonderful  friend/leader.

Please know of our love and prayers. I pray you may feel the comfort of the Holy Ghost.

I am grateful to know we will see our loved ones again.

I am grateful for our dear Bishop Moeller.

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at Doug´s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow "Bubblehead" departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor in the U.S. Submarine Force.
