Batt Merry. I’m truly heart broken by this news. I almost don’t know what to say. You’re one my best friends I’ll always remember having sleep overs at your house seeing who was fast enough to not get bit by your dog lol  band bus rides taking rides in the S10 stopping by the pharmacy to get a milkshake and getting in a fight with you and Josh my first day of school when moving to Davenport. So many good memories brother I’m so glad the last time I visited Davenport we got to hang out like old times and you met what would be my wife. I’ll miss the tall lanky goof ball who just wanted to make people smile. Truly one of the most loyal friends I’ve ever had. I’ll cherish the many memories we have. Mathew…… I don’t know what to say man, I love you so much. I constantly think about you. I’m constantly remembering all the adventures and shenanigans we had together, from going to the soda fountain, to coming up with WILD plans to just stay at each others houses over the weekend (even though we lived like 4 blocks apart). While you are my cousin, you were more like a brother to me. When we moved away from Davenport the biggest hit was not being able to hang out with you and Cody. But we made it work you guys would come up, we’d go bass fishing, paddle that horrible inflatable boat out to goat island, and get “lake sick” while I made you paddle the boat the whole way back laughing at me while I tried not to toss my cookies. There’s so many memories and good times bud, I won’t ever forget them, you were so damn funny and you always giggled and smiled regardless of how much trouble we managed to get in, i could keep going, but I’m running out of character before they kick me off, I love you bro, I look forward to seeing you on the other side tell papa I say hi and I love you both, I’ll never forget you!

I don’t know where to even begin. Mathew and I share very fond memories, from 2nd grade all the way through our college education. From ping-pong tournaments, snowmobiling, spending the holidays together,  driving around in the s10, riding on the bus to our sports games, band events, and so many more. I can’t begin to describe how heartbroken I am for myself and everyone that knew him but especially his family. Thanks for all the laughs, and very fond memories Mathew, they will NEVER be forgotten. Keep smiling up there and watching over all of us. We love you!!

So many good memories with us cousins. I’m gonna miss that big smile and those gangly arms. 

One of my favorite memories. Traveling to Washington and staying with your family. The kids had so much fun! 

Also, when the cousins came to SD and all stayed with my family! What a great week of cooking, eating, 4-wheelers, visiting until the wee hours… wonderful memories. And Matthew was a huge part of all the fun! Such a great young man. He will be missed by so many. 

Matt was one of the 4 trumpeteers in my senior class. Not only could he play well, but he was a big part of why Pep Band was always a good time. Whether it be orchestra, or pep rally, he played his heart out. We performed a quartet at our graduation (pictured above) as a final send off before we all went separately to start our lives, just wish we had more time together.

Mathew was a great and wonderful friend, even in the short time we knew each other. He always had a smile on his face and a laugh in his voice. I won't forget the positivity he brought into our lives, and I will forever have a place for him in my heart.  He will be dearly missed. 

From the day that I met him, I felt nothing but warmth and comfort being around Mathew. He was always genuine <3
