Charles was born May 6, 1929 in Parkersburg, IL. His parents were Charles Sheldon and Blanche (Rodgers) Lynch. Charles married Mary Alice Wiseman April 1, 1951 at the Evangelical Church at West Salem, IL.
Charles was a Private First Class of the Occupational Army in Korea, previous to the war. His life was spent as a grain and livestock farmer. He also followed the University of Illinois sports and was an avid Cardinals fan. He was an active member of the Zion United Methodist Church of West Salem. Charles served as Edwards County Commissioner, Wabash Valley Service Company Board member (later President), Edwards County Farm Bureau Board Member (later President), and was involved in the Land of Lincoln Soybean Association.
He is survived by his wife Mary Alice of West Salem; two daughters, Donna (Hunt) Bonan of Mt. Vernon, IL; DeLaine (David) Fletcher of Colleyville, TX; one son, Darrell (Elizabeth) Lynch of West Salem, IL; one daughter-in-law, Shelby Lynch of West Salem, IL; one brother, Kenneth Lynch of Olney, IL; ten grandchildren: Kelli (Troy) Lively of Bethalto, IL; Matthew (Cassie) Lynch of West Salem, IL; Lindsay (John) Ruhlin of Wood River, IL; Whitney Lynch of Bloomington, IN; Jamilyn (Kent) Marks of West Salem, IL; Fleta (Britt) Shepherd of Albion, IL; Derek (Jonna) Lynch of West Salem, IL; Chad (Deanna) Lynch of Benicia, CA; Sean Fletcher of Coupeville, WA; Calum Fletcher of Colleyville, TX; 21 great-grandchildren and one soon to arrive. Also, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, including one special niece, Rhonda Leek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David; one granddaughter, Rachel; one sister, Eloise Strine; and one brother, Harold Lynch.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 9:00 am at Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem, IL. Burial will be in Zion United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 10, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem.
