Shirley Ann Bush

Shirley Ann (Quattlebaum) Bush passed away early Sunday morning, March 17, 2019 in Okeechobee, FL. She was born in Jacksonville, FL Aug 8, 1932 to Guy and Mildred (Douglas) Quattlebaum. Before 1935, the family moved to Palm Beach County where she graduated from St Ann’s School in 1950 and met and married her husband of almost 59 years in 1951.

After graduation, Shirley was working as a waitress when Don came in looking for a late dinner, having just moved to the area with the Air Force. Their first date was a Sunday Mass and they were married a few months later, Jan 21, 1952 at Sacred Heart. After moving around with their family due to Don’s military service, they settled in West Palm Beach, FL in 1968/9 and then retired to Okeechobee, FL in 1988. They travelled for fun, camping in different state destinations. She had a greenhouse where she grew orchids and loved to sing. Shirley did a lot of cooking, baking, and sewing … for her children and grandchildren, for the ballet studio, and for the Okeechobee Community Theater where she also tried her hand at acting. She was a devout member of St Theresa Catholic Church in Buckhead Ridge.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bush, their son, Kneale Bush, and her brother, G. Earl Quattlebaum. She is survived by her children: Donna Bennett (Mike), Debbie Tidwell (Jimmy), Scott Bush (Cheryle), and Kellie Raulerson, along with 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 nephews, and 3 nieces. Interment will be private at Hillcrest Memorial Park, West Palm Beach, FL.
