Ruth Nesselson Sarles died peacefully in West Palm Beach, FL., at the age of 91, on September 24, 2012. She was born on October 3, 1920, in Altoona, PA., the daughter of the late Louis and Anna Nesselson. She grew up mainly in Bradford, PA., and spent time in Ohio. Prior to her marriage to Albert D. Sarles in Buffalo, N.Y., she worked as a secretary for DuPont and had the ability to type 120 words per minute on a manual typewriter. Mr. and Mrs. Sarles resided in Boston and Worcester, MA., and Utica, N.Y., prior to moving back to Buffalo in 1967. Mrs. Sarles had an outgoing personality and great enthusiasm for life. She had a warm heart and was always very generous to her family and friends. She never forgot a birthday and managed to buy gifts, even when she was ill and bedridden. She loved her family, worried more than was necessary, and wasn't afraid to offer some direct advice. She was an avid cook and recipe collector and enjoyed reading books, newspapers, and magazines. In her later years as her health failed, she still enjoyed clothes shopping and playing the slots at the casino. She was meticulous about her appearance, making sure her nails were polished, her jewelry was “just so,” her hair was done, and her lipstick was fresh. Mrs. Sarles is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey W. and Cynthia Sarles of Chicago; daughters, Joan Sarles Lee of Boston, and Judy E. Sarles of Nashville, TN.; and grandsons, Travis Lee of San Francisco and Jackson Lee of Boston. She was preceded in death by her husband, a former insurance executive, and two sisters, Florence and Sally. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Star of David Cemetery and Funeral Chapel of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, FL.
