Rolando was born on December 2, 1926 in Morón, Camaguey, Cuba to Aurora del Castillo and Antonio Modesto Estrada.
As a young man he met the love of his life, Orfa Esther Ortega, whom he married in 1952.
He graduated from the University of Havana in July, 1950
with a Chemical Engineering Degree in Sugar Cane Refining. He came with his family to the United States in October,1960, fleeing communist oppression in Cuba.
They lived in Miami for 3 years, while he worked two jobs: a waiter and a handyman. Rolando then moved his family to Belle Glade, where he worked for Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida for 30 years as their Chief Chemist.
Rolando loved to be with family and was always up for a reunion or gathering of friends. He was a strong patriarch, a loving man who spent much of his free time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A good friend to all, a man who would give his shirt for a friend.
Rolando was a strong, proud, and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many!
He is preceded in death by parents, Antonio Modesto Estrada and Aurora del Castillo; brother, Antonio Modesto Estrada II.
Rolando is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Orfa Esther Estrada; Children, Roland Estrada and Jorge Estrada; Grandchildren, Victoria Estrada, Kelsy Estrada, and Alexander Estrada; Great Grandchildren, Kailey, Tyler and Alexia Slinskey; sister, Florangel Mendez and a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved friends and relatives; and beloved extended family.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 12:00PM from the Quattlebaum/Hillcrest Funeral Home at 6411 Parker Ave in West Palm Beach.
