I met Richard in 2000, we instantly became close friends !
Richard loved all people and family like no other, he also enjoyed simple pleasures of life!
I’ll remember him for his very special way of being always in a good mood! (That was his gift)

Rich became my brother in law when I was only 20.  I liked him instantly when I first met him and my fondness for him never faded.  He was the funny, energetic, lighthearted brother I never had.  From the start we had silly nicknames (he called me McNab and I called him rickshaw).  We shared jokes and stories and a lot of laughter.  He was always generous and a great host.  He loved his family and friends and never hesitated to show that.  Over thirty years have passed since I met Rich and I still see him the same way - his awesome smile, the way he lit up a room, and his wit.  The world was a much brighter place with him in it.  It was my great pleasure and honor to have known him. 

 I love you, Rich.  I wish so much I could hug you one more time and hear your great laugh.  I will always keep it in my heart.

I'll rememer Rich as an excellent storyteller, an interesting conversationalist and a friendly and engaging brother in law.  May peace be with him.

Our prayers are with you, Lauren and the entire Shaw family.  We have only known Richard for a little over 2 years, first as a realtor and then as a friend. We were really just getting to know him although we had spent hours together looking at homes  first and once we bought a new home, then selling the other. He was always  speaking of his family , the many get togethers and how special Lauren and his children were to him.  We had come to rely on his ideas, suggestions, and knowledge and we will miss him dearly. He was never anything but a perfect gentleman, considerate, caring, efficient, knowledgeable, and most importantly reliable. He went out of his way to help and thought nothing of it although we were well aware of how special he was.

Richard was one of the few people that I could speak at length with on a wide range of military subjects. I will miss hearing his stories. It will be hard finding someone to follow the development of the F-35. Richard was unique. His intelligence and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
