Patricia Lane

98 years old, of Palm Beach, FL, died on St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 17, 2018. “Laney” was born in the county of Kent, England on March 12, 1920, to Humphrey and Elizabeth Lane.

She attended school and grew up there until the outbreak of the WWII. Laney joined the ATS – Auxilliary Territorial Service, later to be known as Women’s Royal Army Corp, where she reached the rank of Sergeant. In May of 1946 a friend was going to Peru with a family to look after their baby. At the last minute her friend couldn’t go and Laney went in her place. That was to be the start of her new life. She went on to live in various places in Canada and then in the USA looking after many babies and children. During some of the time she was in Beverly Hills, she looked after the children of Clarke Gable, Gregory Peck, Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, “Carrie Fisher” and her brother and she had many interesting stories to tell. She later moved to Florida, where she lived for over thirty years, still caring for many families, children and animals. She also was seen in Long Island and Aspen in summers and holidays, as she always became a part of each family she helped. She enjoyed her golden years living with a family in Palm Beach. She blessed many people with her unique personality, strong will, grateful heart and tender side towards all animals. She will be missed greatly, but many look forward to seeing her in heaven one day. As along the way on her journey of life, at 95 years of age, she became a Born Again Christian and found Jesus Christ personally. All Glory to God!

Laney had two sisters, Doris the eldest who died in 2012 and Peggy the youngest who died in 2006. She has a niece, Sue Doolin, and husband Gerald, and a nephew, Mike Blaber, all living in Kent, England.
