Laura Nadine Ebelhardt of West Palm Beach Florida, passed away on January 22, 2023 at the age of 89 surrounded by her three sons. Laura was born in Delta, Colorado on November 6, 1933, daughter of Grant Eldon “Doc” Lee and Grace Hazel Butler. After graduating from Delta High School in 1951, she enlisted in the United States Navy and served a tour of duty in Hawaii, then returned to Colorado where she stayed for a brief time with her mother before taking a job as a switchboard operator with Bell Telephone Company, in Denver Colorado. In 1963 she married Joseph Robert Ebelhardt (former husband-deceased), and soon thereafter began her next journey as mother, a role which became the central and dominating focus of her life. She later settled in Chatham, New Jersey to raise her family and went to work as an administrative assistant for Prudential Insurance Company, where she worked until she retired in 1994. Laura possessed a curious mind and enjoyed reading, travel and life-long learning. She loved the mountains and the outdoors and during her lifetime she traveled around the United States, Canada and abroad, seeing most of western Europe, where she enjoyed absorbing the local culture and history.
She was a kind and gentle soul, who loved her pets, especially her toy poodles. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her. Laura is survived by sons Martin Ebelhardt (Heidi Zimmer), Robert Ebelhardt (Walter Kagnus), Donald Ebelhardt; step-daughters Paula Petroze (Pete), Patricia Martin; grand-children Sarah Kurtze, Molly Kurtze, Robin Petroze, Julie Hamlin, Peter Petroze, Allision Bill; several great-grand-children; sister Cynthia Gail Elliot. Laura is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Ervin “Butch” Martin; sister’s Barbara Lois Johnson, Lynda Loraine Lee.
