Born in Far Rockaway, NY, Judy was the daughter of Dr. Hyman Rivkin, a radiologist and Nettie Rivkin. She graduated Far Rockaway High School in 1948 and Bryn Mawr College in 1952. As an adult, Judy returned to school to get a Masters Degree in Hospital Administration, and took up a career managing her husband’s orthopedic practice.
A child prodigy, Judy was a classical pianist who studied at Julliard and performed under conductor Arturo Toscanini. She remained an active musician in local music clubs in New York and Florida, and continued performing for small groups in her home until very recently.
She is survived by children David Feldman, Carol Hagstedt and son-in-law Michael Hagstedt, and grandchildren Lizzie Hagstedt, Tracey Messina, son-in-law Greg Messina, Sammi Feldman and Andrew Barth Feldman, as well as great grandchild Lily Claire Messina. Judy’s daughter Laurie passed in 1995.
She is also survived by her brother, Leonard Rivkin,his children Dr Janet Zuckerman, John Rivkin and their families, and Debbie Brickman and Beth Chernick, nieces, and their families.
The funeral service will be held on January 30, 2020 at IJ Morris Star of David Cemetery with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches, 1710 Tiffany Drive E, West Palm Beach, FL. 343407.
