

John L. Raiford,Jr, affectionately known as “June Bug” was born January 29, 1933 to John L Raiford, Sr. and Lessie Wadley Raiford. John wasthe first of nine children born to this union. John was a loving, kind and generous person with a big smile and a even bigger ultra-bass laugh. He loved to be active and he always looked much younger than his age. John has lived in Washington D. C., Brooklyn, New York and most recently moved to Riviera Beach, Florida over 13 years ago. After his move to Florida, John attached himself to the ministry of his brother, Supt. Dr. Norman L Raiford and the Beulah Land Worship Center C. O.G.I.C. Where he received Christ and dedicated himself to learning more about the Bible and the God he served. John grew up in the church and would sing (and slap his thigh), and played the trumpet in the services as well. He loved to tell stories of adventures with his father. John loved nice jewelry, which his daughter April would give him as gifts. He spent most of his adult years in Brooklyn raising his family and working for New York Transit Authority from which he retired after about 25 years. John peacefully transitioned to Life Eternal on July 23, 2016. John is preceded in death by his parents; children Sharon, Terrence, and Derek Raiford, sisters: Sadie “Teen” Alcenia Raiford and Janice Raiford Lofton and brother James Clarence Raiford. John is survived by his wife, Albertina Raiford, children Rhonda and April; a daughter-in-law, Dina; Also left to cherish his memory are his 5 siblings: Norman (Medialene) Raiford of Palm Beach Gardens; Theodore H. Raiford and Raymond C. Raiford of Riviera Beach; Clyde A Raiford of Bowling Green FL, and Gloria Raiford Hoskins (Lewis) of Lansing Michigan. John Lorenzo Raiford, Jr.’s life is also celebrated by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
