John Edward Nielsen, age 59, was born on December 28th, 1963 in Belleville, New Jersey. After graduating from Cedar Ridge High School, John enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1984, and served in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1986.
On November 21st, 1987, John married his high school sweetheart Donna; they were blessed with two children, and this November they would have been married for 36 years. John worked as the Warehouse Foreman at Viking Yachts where he has been for almost 10 years. John enjoyed so many hobbies and had a number of interests. Most notably would be his passion for baseball, and of course, the New York Yankees. He had a love for all kinds of music, especially jazz, blues, and rock. He would look forward to fishing with his wife after work, something they did together almost every day. He would share frequent visits to the beach to relax, do some shelling, and snorkel with his family, and would love the sightings of marine life, from turtles, to stingrays, to manatees. John also enjoyed watching documentaries, movies, and UFC fights. John was a bowler, who achieved the ultimate accolade of bowling a 300 game, and loved to watch and attend the pro tour games and tournaments.
He is survived by his wife Donna Nielsen, his daughter Jacki Nielsen, his son Christopher Nielsen, his parents Charles and Sally Nielsen, and his brothers, James Nielsen and Charlie Nielsen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to any marine life or ocean conservation groups, such as Loggerhead Marinelife Center or Oceana.
John was also an organ donor, and even after his passing, he was able to help those in need with his tissue donations. The family would like to thank all who have reached out with kind words and fond memories, as it is comforting to know how many lives he touched by his kindness and humor throughout his wonderful life.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL, 33417, from 10 am to 12 pm, with service starting at 11:15 am.
