Attorney John Joseph Barone, age 93, formerly of Buffalo, New York was born on September 22, 1931. He was a resident of Clarence, New York where he enjoyed raising his family.
John was a huge Buffalo Bills fan, and N.Y. Yankees fan. Mr. Barone enjoyed playing golf, the arts, traveling with his family and nature. He was a very well respected man by his constituents as a leader in the community with honor and integrity. John was a scholar student. In his early years, he attended Saint Joseph’s All Catholic Boys Prep School and later Canisius University. He always said he knew exactly what he wanted to do. He graduated from The University at Buffalo School of Law and became an attorney so that he could help people.
Mr. Barone went on to become head Chief and Council of the Department for Social Services of Erie County where he headed the division. He did a lot of pro bono work during his career. As a Scholar, John also conducted monthly instructional and educational lectures for Family and law at Syracuse University.
He was a Veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the law offices of the Army with our former Vice President Walter Mondale, who he fondly called “Fritz”.
Vice President Mondale tried to persuade John into coming to Washington with him. A Republican man with strong conviction, John did not want to leave his political affiliation or his deep roots in Buffalo New York, the place known as “the home of the good neighbor”. He was more interested in helping people individually than politics.
John J. Barone, PA is preceded in death by his son, Mark Allen Barone. Step sons Lawrence Charles Moline and William Moline. Son-in-law Robert Gudza, his Mother, Mary Victoria Marino Barone and his Father, Joseph Barone. His father was a former Jockey of harness racing and owner of Reliable Stables in Batavia, New York near the horse race track.
John J. Barone is survived by Mildred Ann Barone. John leaves behind his daughter, Renee Barone Scott, Son-in-law Donald B. Scott Jr. His two grandchildren, Samuel Barone Bengisu and Sasha Marie Bengisu. Step daughter Robin Guzda and their children Morgan and Courtney. Sister Rosalya Barone Addington and her children.
A closed, private family viewing will take place at Quattlebaum Funeral Home located at 5411 Okeechobee Blvd. West Palm Beach, FL 33417 between 10:00am-12:00pm.
Catholic Burial services with Military Honors will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 S.E. County Line Rd. Tequesta, FL. 33469.
