Janet Penn Kirker passed away peacefully on March 28, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia. Born in Sharples, W.Va., in 1928, Janet was a long-time resident of West Palm Beach, moving with her late husband, Earl, from Logan, W. Va., in 1955. Married for 58 years, the two met at Marshall University in Huntington where she earned a Master’s Degree in Business. Upon graduation she taught Business at Logan High School. Shortly after moving to West Palm, Janet began working at Belle Isle College in downtown West Palm Beach and spent most of her career at Sears Roebuck Department Store on Dixie Highway and later at the Palm Beach Mall. She retired from Sears with more than 30 years of service. If Janet had a weakness it was for stray cats. She always had a small bowl of food on the porch for her wayward friends who found a big heart and a new home.
Janet is survived by son Richard Kirker, Atlanta; daughter and son-in-law Jane and Joseph Bucca, Gainesville; two granddaughters, Michele Boldrin (Bob Moleski). Also heartfelt thanks to the Trunk Family, particularly Eddie, who did so much for Earl and Janet.
