Ida Katherine Young of West Palm Beach, Fla. born on August 24, 1922, passed away on February 12th, 2023 of natural causes. She was 100 years of age. She was born in Moorehaven, Fla. to Oliver Monroe Hardin and Marie Joanne Van de Velde. She had 6 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Ida’s husband, Frank Sr passed away in 1996, they were married for 50 years.
Ida was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved playing games with her grandchildren. She was always there for her family when needed. She loved to travel, and her most memorable trip was on her 80th Birthday to Hawaii. Ida lived 3 1/2 years in Japan, where her husband was stationed in the Air Force. During that time she learned well how to cook Japanese food, we all loved when she made authentic Shrimp Tempura, she was over all an excellent cook.
Ida loved to crochet, knit, and do needle point. She sent her family numerous hand crocheted throw blankets, over the years, many of which are still in use to this day.
She was known to have her grandchildren come to stay with her, for a month or more, every summer, which the grand children looked so forward to. These were some of her favorite days. She was generous to a fault. And was known for her fine taste in clothing, and always looked her very best.
Next to her family, she had a special love for animals, and throughout her life she had many canine companions and was a longtime supporter of the ASPCA.
Ida was greatly loved by her family, and everyone who knew her, and will be forever missed!
