I worked for George as a cashier for many years, he was kind-hearted and caring, hardworking and compassionate and he had an old world work ethic. If you worked for George, you were part of the family. Everyone bonded together to make this a place that you looked forward to going to for evenings, holidays and special events; I have not worked at other restaurants  but I feel sure that cannot be said about many of them.  At the end of the day, he always made sure that everyone had something to eat, including the feral cats. At times the work was hard, but it never outweighed the fun and joy of being there. Oftentimes, George would say or do something that would have us laughing, sometimes not so much as what he said as much as to whom he said it (Kimberly, if you read this, I remember). George's passing is our loss but heaven's gained a shining star. 
Godspeed George, may we meet again.

My mother Betty Marmon used to eat lunch once a week at Gordon’s with Evan Frankel as they were on the Board of the Jewish Center of the Hamptons. Years later, when my mom was dying from lung cancer, all she wanted was the Pea Soup from Gordon’s. They sent it over every day and refused to be paid for it. My father would also drop off his freshly caught Striped Bass and every time we went into Gordon’s we were treated like family. George was truly a wonderful and giving man and will be missed by all those lucky enough to have known him.

Georgie was and is the kindest individual one can know. I first met George when I was 15 working pantry at Spring Close House. He introduced me to the restaurant world and we have remained friends ever since. My prayers and thoughts to all his family because they are my family too. Till we meet again....

I worked with George for 23 years at Gordons. I was there when he first opened up. He was the most honorable boss I ever had in my life. He made sure all his employees were fed and insisted on you sitting at the table with him. He treated everyone with respect. A few years back after my last brain surgery I would walk around the block to regain stregth. One day George stopped me gave me a hug and a tray of his famous baked clams. Rest In Peace my Friend. My dad was a waiter at Gordon's throughout my childhood, and George was  like family to us. He was such a warm,  wonderful soul. He will be missed.

With warmth and a welcoming smile George always made me feel so special. He and my dad were friends for years and my dad would share such funny stories about their golf games together. Many special family occasions were celebrated at Gordon’s where I always felt like a princess because of George. A sweet soul who brought so much to our community. You will always be remember with love. 

Dear George was so welcoming to us when we moved to Amagansett in the house behind theirs. He shared the restaurant world of the east end with Mike. His love of his children and warmth with them and their friends was a big part of him. Loved watching my girls running around the yard with Frances and Thomas. Sending a big hug to Fran & Tom. RIP George 

I worked many years at Godon's and recall his enthusiasm and joy that he put in toward his restaurant and his employees.  I shall miss him dearly.

Dear George,
Back when I worked for Wölffer Estate Vineyards I used to spend hours talking with you in the kitchen at Gordon’s. You used to give me bags of herbs especially Greek Oregano that you had sneaked into the country in your suitcase, and once in a while got caught😂
Your cooking was some of the best I have ever eaten out here, you will be sorely missed but forever remembered.
Now you’re cooking for God.

George sure will be missed by all who ever crossed his path. All three of my sons, Ken, Ron and Sean worked for him at Gordon's at different times during their lives and always spoke well about how they were treated, more like family then employees and every winter when he would close he would send one of my sons home with trays of frozen escargot and baked clams which we would enjoy over the winter. My wife and I always spent our anniversary's at his restaurant and he was also our neighbor for some 30 years on Harrison Ave, Springs .....truly a great friend!

I remember when George and I worked together at Spring Close House. He was maitre d' and I was a 19 year old hostess. He taught me so much about impeccable service. How to always be present without hovering. How to anticipate all the needs of the dinners and always smile. He had the best smile and dimples. Thereafter when we both moved on and we ran into one another there were hugs and kisses and I'd smell his cologne for the rest of the day. What I wouldn't give for one more hug

a better Caesar salad, EVER! Prom night dinner at Gordon's...You treated me like a princess
and made me feel SOO special... One of my first childhood crushes<3...Hadn't seen you in a while

George....A wonderful man, a huge heart and a smile that lit up the room. His children were his everything! I hope the family can find peace in wonderful memories of a wonderful soul!

George, Hans and Tasim were my first bosses and taught me invaluable lessons about work, respect, life and food to which I'm still very grateful.   I'm saddened to hear of his passing but glad I got to thank him for these lessons.   He was one of a kind, will be missed and not forgotten.

As  a child spending summers at Spring Close House there were no other children for me to play with. George you gave of yourself and made me look up to you as my hero. Thank you for  making me feel good, laugh, learn to play poker, clean and set up the bar and even do some play time. George you always brought a good laugh to us. You're a good friend to the Amagansett Fire department and the entire community. When you opened up your restaurant for a private party for Chris's confirmation it was really appreciated and a great time was had by all. We miss your cooking and your friendship as well as your antics at the poker table. Rest in peace my friend.

A great guy, good father,and dedicated talented chef. He, Hans and Tasim were a great team. Never forget when he heard my daughter loved his chocolate mousse & he brought her out a soupbowl full. Many nights of drinks ar the bar after closing. Two wonderful children, Tomas and Fortuni... so sorry for your loss. George, you will live on forever in our memories.

George was an amazing,sweet, generous man and one of the best Chef's I've known. Very fond memories of going to "Gordon's" and having amazing dinners whether a night out or celebrating an Anniversary or birthday. Sincere condolences to his family.

The poker game hasn't been the same without you, miss you big time. The baked clams live on though thanks to Kim Kenney, George would have loved that.
