Eva was born in Brussels, Belgium in 1930 . She spent most of her childhood in hiding with her younger sister Mireille in the midst of the Nazi regime. After the war Eva met her husband Jacob Hecht and spent the next 62 years happily married to him. Eva and Jacob immigrated to the United States in 1951 along with their oldest child Louis. They arrived at Ellis island and spent the next few years living in New York City before moving to New Jersey, where they would eventually settle for many years. Eva and Jack, as he became lovingly known, went on to have three more children. Time passed, and the family grew. Eva and Jack were eventually blessed with four children, nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In more recent years ,Eva lived in Atlanta near her daughter Susan Jacobsohn and her family. The family would like to graciously thank Jewish Family and Career services of Atlanta for helping to make Eva’s life easier and more meaningful. We ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to JF&CS of Atlanta specifically either to the Holocaust Remembrance Fund or the Aviv Elder Services Fund.
