Edmundo Jose Gonzalez

EDMUNDO J. GONZALEZ Edmundo J. Gonzalez, 75 years old, born November 16, 1936 and died on August 31, 2012 at his home in Lake Clarke Shores, FL. He was born in Havana, Cuba, to Jose Antonio Gonzalez and Maria Gomez-Gonzalez. Edmundo worked for the family owned business the only merchant store in Isle of Pines, Cuba until leaving for college in Havana, Cuba. In 1959, Edmundo graduated from the University Of Havana Law School. On September 13, 1958, Edmundo met the "love of his life" soon to be wife. on January 10, 1960, Edmundo married Concepcion Gonzalez, who he nick named "Tata" of Isle of Pines, Cuba. Because of his distaste for communism, Edmundo immigrated to the United States in 1962. Upon arriving in the United States, Edmundo sought employment with Publix Supermarkets where he worked for 45 years, and was promoted to Store Manager. Edmundo had deep convictions and beliefs in democracy, becoming a United States citizen in 1970. He became involved in local politics. He was founding member of the Cuban- American Republican Club of Palm Beach County. Edmundo was a collector of stamps, coins, and baseball cards. He enjoyed deep sea fishing with his sons and friends. He loved his three dogs, Lobo, Dandy and Sandy. Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Concepcion Gonzalez, son Edmundo Gonzalez and Shele English, son Jorge Gonzalez and spouse Amada Gonzalez, and grandchildren Jorge Michael Gonzalez and Jessica Gonzalez. The family will receive their friends on Monday, September 3 at the Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 AM on Tuesday morning. His mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 4 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, West Palm Beach, FL. Mr. Gonzalez will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park following mass.
