Charles William “Bill” Waddell, Sr., 82, of West Palm Beach, Fl., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022. Born March 5, 1940, he was the oldest of three children born to Charles Emmett and Paolina Mazzeri Waddell in São Paolo, Brazil. He schooled in Brazil, Switzerland and the United States and had seen more of the world by age 15 then most people get to see in their lifetime.
In the early 1960’s, Bill moved permanently to Florida and it was his love of music that led him to Wilson’s Music Manor in downtown West Palm Beach. There, he met the love of his life, Patricia Kemp and in September, 1965 they were married at St. Juliana Church. They were married just shy of 57 years. Bill served briefly in the United States Army, originally stationed in Ft. Bragg, NC and served six years in the US Army Reserves.
Bill always loved a good joke and was known for his dry sense of humor. Among his hobbies, he loved food and wine and was a self-proclaimed food connoisseur. Additional hobbies included collecting music, Disney and Lionel trains. He loved hunting and water-skiing and as a member of the Mako boat owners club, he was an avid fisherman. He loved all sports, especially fútbol and baseball. During baseball season, you could always find him watching a Marlins game or any game if his team wasn’t playing.
There was never a doubt that Bill loved his family. He was a devoted son, husband, father and brother. He was predeceased by his father Charles Emmett Waddell, mother Paolina M. Waddell and sister Julia Waddell Beall.
Bill is survived by his wife, Patricia Waddell and their two sons, Charles William Waddell, Jr. and P. Stephen (Grace) Waddell; granddaughter Celina; his sister Helen W. Pecori and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.
A service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bill’s name to Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County, Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Loxahatchee, Fl or to St. Juliana Catholic Church in West Palm Beach.
