Risdon, Charles Roland III, 77 years old, of Boynton Beach, FL died peacefully in his home on Friday, February 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was a resident of Palm Beach County since 1976. Chuck is survived by his two children, Julie Risdon Fiedor and her husband Jack of Wellington, FL, and Craig Risdon and his wife Kelly (Kern) Risdon of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Amanda, Christian and Chad Fiedor, and Emily and Kate Risdon; and a brother, Russell Walsh Risdon (Lynn) of Bend, OR, step-sister, Ann Daly Dowling (Lonnie) of Altamonte Springs, FL, sister-in-law, Susan Gans of Bloomfield Hills, MI and many special cousins. He was predeceased by his adoring wife of forty-eight years, Betty Ann Risdon, his parents Charles Roland Risdon Jr, Jane Pock and sister, Nancy Risdon.
Chuck was a loving husband and father, a faithful friend and a successful self-made business owner and operator.
Chuck started his professional career as a purchasing manager for his family business, Risdon Bros, Creamery in Detroit, Michigan. Following the sale of the family business in 1974 he moved his family to Delray Beach, Florida to embark on the start of a bold new career. He formed his own business serving the automotive restyling industry under the name Sunroof of Florida, Inc., based in Fort Lauderdale. Under his tireless leadership, Sunroof of Florida quickly became a strong and profitable business, ultimately expanding into a second location in Jacksonville. Chuck’s perseverance, dedication, integrity and hard work made him a respected business leader in the industry. Many even consider him a pioneer in this business. His gregarious personality made him not just an outstanding salesman but a trusted friend of many in the automobile business. He valued his business friendships more than the business itself and truly never met a stranger.
Chuck loved antique cars, a good joke, magic tricks, old photos and memorabilia, golf and squash and keeping in touch with family and friends, near and far. His greatest joy in life came from his role of husband, father and papa to his grandchildren.
Chuck will best be remembered for his strength, infectious laugh and love of people.
The family will celebrate Chuck’s life at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation & Event Center, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33417 with Father Aidan Lacy officiating.
