Formerly of Beverly Hills, CA and Jackson Heights, NY, Carolyn was born in Poughkeepsie, NY, the daughter of Charles H. Eckert and Julia Kovacz, who pre-deceased her.
Widowed to late husband Vincent C. Ross, Jr., married from 1976 – 2013; also widowed to first husband, Fred Joseph Healy, Jr., married from 1949 – 1964. Fred died of lung cancer at 42 years old, he was a WWII veteran who served in the US Navy.
Beloved mother of two daughters Belinda H. Rubino (West Islip, NY) and Karen P. Healy (Wellington, FL) and a son Marc F. Healy (Royal Palm Beach, FL)
Adored grandmother of Krista Harness, John Harness, Frederick Rubino, Anthony Rubino and Amber Healy. Much-loved great-grandmother of Rose, Rowan, Audrey, Julianna and Emma. She is survived by three brothers-in-law, George C. Ross (wife, Dede) (Westchester, NY), Robert Jackowski (Hyde Park, NY), Eugene Healy (Poughkeepsie, NY), and several nieces and nephews.
Carolyn earned an Associate’s Degree in Arts from Santa Monica College (1971), she also earn a General Contractors License (1991), and a Blueprint Reading / Estimating (1992). She was a Realtor with Barclay’s International Realty Inc, (1990-1999), a registered ISID Interior Designer in Palm Beach and Los Angeles (1968-2002). Mrs. Ross was also the owner of ROSSCO of Palm Beach Inc., (1992-2002).
Carolyn belonged to several organizations, to name a few: The Beach Club – 40 year member, 1976 - former co-Chairman of the Aesthetics Committee; Palm Beach Island Cats (founding member); St. Edward Catholic Church; The Palm Beach Croquet Club – International Croquet Ball Chairwomen, 1993; and, the Norton Museum of Art.
Her many activities included, philanthropy, art, dancing and NASCAR. Former memberships include: The Everglades Club; The Breakers; The Sailfish Club; Fraternal Order of Police Association (FOPA) Associate Member; NRA certified; and, the Palm Beach Republican Club.
Mrs. Ross’ final gift was a tissue donation to The Florida Brain Bank in support of Alzheimer’s Research.
Lisa Merrins, a lifelong friend of Mrs. Ross, said, “Carolyn was kind, intelligent and a beautiful friend, she was dedicated to her family and friends, we will miss her dearly.”
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday July 5th at Quattlebaum Funeral Home Address: 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach between the hours of 4pm-8pm with a wake service at 6pm. A funeral mass will be held the next day, Wednesday, at 11:30am, at St.Edward Roman Catholic Church, address 144 N County Rd, Palm Beach, Fl 33480, followed by an interment ceremony at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Fl. Arrangements under Quattlebaum Funeral Home.
