Susan was my Vice Principal when I was in eighth grade at St. Martin De Porres in 1996.  She was just so kind. Such a gentle and loving educator she was back then. I am an Educator myself now, with the TCDSB and had the pleasure of meeting Susan again at a track and field meet. I was very deeply saddened to hear of her passing. Her legacy as an educator will live on in the living memories of every student and fellow educator who was blessed to have known her. Rest in peace, Susan.

I was saddened to hear the news of Susan’s sudden passing. I was blessed to have worked with Susan when I began my teaching career. I will never forget how she welcomed me into her school and fought tooth and nail to have me taken on as a permanent teacher. I learned so much from Susan not only that year but over the course of our friendship. Her calm, generous nature was infectious as well as her ability to work with students in a compassionate and straightforward manner. I will miss her bright eyed smile and welcoming hugs whenever we met. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. 

I feel honoured to consider myself Susan’s friend. When we first met, as fellow teachers, I was so impressed with her ability to connect with and guide her students. She was gentle, kind, compassionate, fiercely protective, and always with a big smile and a twinkle in her eye.
In 1997, I was delighted when we both moved into a newly built neighbourhood and discovered we lived two houses away from each other. We were neighbours. We briefly worked together in the same school. We travelled together to the Holy Land on a pilgrimage in 2000, and years later with Marc and Ken to Palm Springs. I was so happy to attend her wedding to Marc 20 years ago.
We both became principals about the same time. I was further impressed by her tremendous leadership skills, her calm composure even in challenging situations, her intelligence, her compassion, and her sincere desire to help anyone and everyone. 
When she retired, Susan continued to work for the school board in various capacities, as well as teaching aquafit classes, and serving St. Joseph’s Church as a lector for many years. Her contributions to education and the community are immeasurable. And, let’s not forget her skills as a gardener and her life-long love of her dogs!
Ken and I send our deepest condolences to Marc, and to all of Susan’s family, friends, and colleagues. Susan, you will always have a place in our hearts!

I am saddened and shocked by the untimely loss of this vibrant, engaging woman. My late husband and I shared many meals with Susan and Marc. Their special bond and love and respect for each other was always evident.  Susan and Marc  shared many aspects of their life together, and were equally interested in what others had to offer. Susan lived well and loved well. It was an honour to know her. 

I attended Susan's Shallow and Deep Water Aquafit classes which she taught at the Pan Am Center. Her classes were so much fun. She had great energy and her classes were always filled to capacity. I always looked forward to her great taste in music which she brought to each of her classes like Beyonce, MJ, Alicia Keys and the Rocky theme song during our Tabata and cardio sessions. She provided great health tips in each of her classes. I will miss your classes, Susan. Rest in Peace. 

The years we spent together was breath taking and so as one soul together.the places we travelled and the comfort we shared together will be forever till we meet again .

I was privileged to work, as school social worker,in Toronto Catholic district school board,  with Susan in at least two schools in Scarborough

        Susan will be greatly missed by her sister and brother in -laws Melanie(Jennings )and Jeff Fruitman as well as her nieces Samara and Cleo.  We will cherish the memories of sharing many family dinners and special milestone occasions with her. She was a  kind, beautiful person who will not be forgotten.

What a sad loss  for family , friends and education in Ontario. I worked with Susan while she was a student teacher in the early eighties .We worked together again while she was vice principal at St Maria Goretti Catholic School. Susan was a wonderful teacher and most importantly, a kind person. We spoke often  about life , family, health and spirituality. I am shocked and saddened by the loss of Mrs. Susan Hall Jennings. I will be forever grateful for Susan who was the principal that took a chance on me, hiring me as a permanent teacher. Early in my career and following our time working together, she taught me countless lessons - both professionally and personally. Known for her love of learning and student well-being, among other things, Susan was THE VOICE of East Cross Country, which she passionately continued following her retirement. She will be truly missed.

I was shocked and deeply saddened when I heard of Susan's passing.  I met Susan at St Joseph's Church Highland Creek several years ago when my sister and I served in the Ministry for Lectors along with Susan. I truly admired her as a lector and a friend. I count myself blessed to have known her. I send my deepest condolences to Susan's family and dear friends.

I was very lucky to meet Susan through our monthly RTO book club meetings. She was quiet, thoughtful, and encouraging. I wish I had been able to get to know her better.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Susan
Marie Hall, on August 9th, 2023 in Toronto at the age of 64. Susan ascended to the arms
of our Lord as her cousin Phil and her friend Eva stood vigil  by her bedside.
 A kind and gentle soul, Susan was a dedicated educator, mentor, instructor, and animal lover (Katie, Jessie)

Susan had a passion for reading, wine tasting, gardening, fitness, travel and piano were only some of the
activities that kept her busy during her retirement from the Toronto Catholic
District School Board.

 Susan was predeceased by her mother Helene Hall, and father Roy
Hall (Pat Marshall). Susan's husband Marcus Jennings, sister-in-law Melanie and her
husband Jeff, and her nieces Samara and Cleo greatly mourn her passing.
 
Susan will be dearly missed by her aunt Claudette Hall, and first cousins Philip, Cristiene and Nicole Hall. 
Susan will also be mourned by her cousins, Michelle Martin, Tracy Lowndes Lee-Tom, and many friends and colleagues. 

A celebration of Susan's life and a funeral mass take place at a later date. 

 In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Toronto Humane
Society or your favourite charity would be appreciated.

May God hold you close in arms and welcome you into his kingdom. We will miss you Susan and you will

I learned so much from Susan Hall and hold her in such high regard.  I missed her when she left Immaculate Heart of Mary, but I knew she still had lots of communities to influence and was happy to hear her funny quips at meets years later.  

She showed me that calm, soft thoughtfully chosen words can inspire a gym full of students to re-examine their internal moral compass, ignite a staff to explore their passions while seeing their role in the bigger picture, and most magically can sway the mind of a student who was about to lie to offer the truth.  

Thank you Susan for choosing me and laying down some stepping stones for me to follow.

I am so saddened by this news. Although I only worked with Susan for a few months, she was an amazing, supportive principal and a pleasure to work with. My heartfelt condolences go to her husband and family.

We  (Ennio and I )are deeply saddened by the passing of Susan Hall. She and I  met while at Glendon College in the Education programme.  I have many fond memories of our times together, as members of the Glendon girls, going to New York city, high tea at the King Edward Hotel, lunches and dinners with Darlene,  going to plays and sharing the titles of the books we read.  She was a wonderful story-teller and laughter was always shared.  Her humour, warmth and compassion will be missed.  

We have lost a trusted and supportive Principal colleague from Area 8. In keeping with the unofficial motto of the Scarborough Area 8 principals… the sun always rises in the East, we can be sure that it will continue to shine on Susan as she embarks on her next adventure. I met Susan when she was a Lector as St. Joseph's Parish.  She was one of the lead lectors with my sister, Susanne.  Susan was always warm, kind, and soft spoken. Thank you all for your wonderful memories of my first cousin Susan Hall. I am heartbroken 💔 right now and am still trying to come to terms with her passing. Susan did not die alone. Myself and one of her close friends Eva Matyas was with her when she passed into the Lords hands.

Celebrating New Year's Eve in Quebec City in 1985, one of many  memories for which I am grateful.

Susan and I became good friends after graduating from university.  We enjoyed many lunches of chicken Caesar salad and white chocolate mousse cake with our friend Diane.  We had a memorable trip to Quebec City and spent many late nights debating life and politics on the phone. She was my maid of honour and the godmother of my son, Stephen. (He still remembers the pizza-sized cookies she would send on his birthdays.)  Susan was a generous, compassionate person who touched many lives for the better. In recognition of her dedication to education, I nominated her for the Toronto Sun’s Woman of the Year Award in the 90's.  Life eventually took us in different directions, but we stayed in touch and I always considered her a dear friend. 

I am so saddened to hear of Susan’s passing. What a wonderful human being, sincere friend, and a dedicated educator.  Have very fond memories of our times together as Principals. We could always have a giggle  during work meetings. My sincerest condolences to family and friends. RIP my dear friend. 

Susan and Marc are our best friends…we will miss her tremendously.  Her wisdom, kindness and gentle heart were such a huge part of her being.  She touched so many young lives and guided many as a principle.  Our hearts are broken for you Marc.  She will be tremendously missed!
