Passed away peacefully at his home in Scarborough on Saturday April 13th, 2024, in his 89th year. Simeon is predeceased by his devoted wife of 58 years, Paulina Federigan (nee Maglalang). Brother to Ofelia (living) and predeceased by Lucy, Tony, Lita, Aurora and NingNing. Loving father to Agnes & Gerald Craymer, Ailene & Benjie Diones, Adrian & Geronie Federigan and Anabel & Wolfgang Leithner. Grandfather to Gerard Paolo, Anthony, Sean Karl, Kyle Ian, Kiel Hanz, Keira Gail, Katrina Monica, Mark Kevin and Sarah Marie. Simeon will be remembered by many more extended family and friends. Simeon grew up in Sta. Mesa, Manila and went to MAPA Highschool and the University of the East in the Philippines where he graduated with a degree in accountancy. Before he practiced as a professional accountant, he got into business early in life by looking after their family-owned variety store in Manila, Philippines. He did this while doing his CPA review after which, he passed the board examination for Certified Public Accountants in the Philippines. He first worked as a professional accountant at Luzon Stevedoring Company in the 1960s where he met his wife, Paulina. Then he applied for another accounting position at Riverside Mills Corporation. Then in the early 80s, faced with a growing family, Simeon had no choice but to find work overseas. There he found an accounting job at Reza Investment Company in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he worked for many years. Missing his family, he decided to go back to the Philippines and worked at La Paz Real Estate and Investments and had a small stint at EBQ Bicycles and at the same time managed to raise and sell livestock chicken. Then finally, he worked at Johnson & Johnson Philippines Inc. in his late fifties to early sixties. Then in 1998, their daughter, Agnes, sponsored him and Paulina to live with her in Canada as landed immigrants. Having set foot on a foreign land in their early sixties, he and his wife, Paulina needed to find a job in Toronto to help Agnes pay their day-to-day expenses. With God’s grace, he found an accounting and administrator position for the Couples for Christ, a Filipino religious community based in Toronto, Canada, where he served the Lord and worked until he was in his late seventies. Simeon had a quiet demeanor but was witty and had a quirky sense of humor. During his prime years, he enjoyed playing tennis, basketball and racket ball. But he also managed to take his family to beach resorts and recreational parks in the Philippines. Watching tennis matches, basketball and Filipino programs on TV were one of his favourite relaxation activities. He will surely be missed by his family and friends.
