Our condolences to Judie and the family.
Our relationship began at Emmanuel United Church in Windsor Ontario.  We were both in Cubs and Scouts and took leadership roles in Young Peoples at the local and Presbytery level.  It was his entrepreneurial spirit that led us to get rock and roll groups from Detroit to come and play at events at Churches in Essex County!
He, Gord McLaughlin and I formed a singing hootenanny group called “The Penniless Three” and even sang at a few concerts!
From then, our career paths separated us.  Uncannily, we both pursued careers in sales.  During this time, we connected sparingly just to stay in touch.
It was when he moved to Scarborough and Pickering that we were able to reconnect somewhat frequently, as we lived near each other.  He remarked, with his usual smile, to a waitress that we know each other for 75 years!!
Our discussions included his responsibilities to his mother and sister, and his health.  Furthermore, he explained the importance of family and how he loved having them stay at the house. 
It was only a week prior to his passing that we had had a coffee.  Rest in peace, my friend.

To Rob and the Pillsworth families I send my deepest condolences. I grew up with Rick. We went to Hugh Beaton public school then Walkerville High School. Played at  Stodgel park. Boy scouts as well. I have many fine memories of Rick. When he was selling art supplies, he came into my classroom, as I was the school art teacher. It was a pleasant  surprise. Rick's family was a copy of my family. We lived on Chilver and the Pillsworth's lived on Kildare. Mother, father, 2 boys and one girl. Identical families. Great times and great memories having Rick as my friend. I will miss him. Peace.

Dear Judie, a cherished memory I have of Richard is the morning he was all dressed up and walking a little dog down the street.  I said you are Judie's husband and who do you have with you.  Cleo to which I said Leo and Richard set me straight by saying Cleo for Cleopatra, she is from Egypt.  Oh my I bet Judie is happy and he replied so she is.  The rest is history and how he loved Cleo and she gave back to both Richard and you ten times over not to mention the rest of the neighbourhood.  A very pleasant and mannerly man and I am so glad I had the opportunity to  get to know Richard for a short while.  Take care of yourself Judie during this difficult time.  Gail

Richard was so happy the day he told me he passed his drivers test to renew his licence age 80 and up.  We talked about cars and Cleo and life in general.  I miss seeing him and having talks.

Rick and I grew up together as cousins. My dad and his mother were   brother and sister. Most of my memories are from our days together at the family cottage during the summers. The best was finding a small rowboat and restoring storm damage together and then enjoying exploring a nearby swamp all summer. I remember him as the little big man. Although small is stature there was nothing he wouldn’t try if it involved the outdoors and he carried that into his time as a scout. I think he became a Queen Scout. As an adult his work took him away from Windsor but he was always the one to call and catch up even as recently as a month ago. I’ll miss his calls and optimistic personality. Thoughts and prayers for him and his family.
