Peacefully on December 21, 2015 at the Scarborough Hospital after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by her husband Alfred Burns. Survived by her sister Gabriella Sangster (Donald), her nephew Don Sangster (Susan), her niece Vicky Sangster and son Kyle and her loving dog Harley.
Martha spent her career as a French Teacher with the Toronto Board of Education, during which she made many friends and helped educate many young minds. After retirement, Martha enjoyed spending her summers with Harley at the trailer on Cameron Lake and her winters with friends in Florida. Even losing her leg below the knee didn’t keep Martha from enjoying life.
Memorial Visitation will be at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave. E. in Scarborough, ON, on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. with a second visitation on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
