Kwasi Adu Asare was born on June 13, 1947 at Akim Oda in the Eastern region of Ghana. His parents, both deceased, were Opanin Kwabena Adu Asare and Madam Mary Adwoa Nipaa Kyereko, natives of Akim Oda.
Kwasi, as he was affectionately called by his peers, was the first child of his parents.
Kwasi Asare started his elementary education at Akim Oda before attending the prestigious Achimota school in Accra and Adesadel College in Cape Coast for his secondary education. After his secondary education, Kwasi Asare was awarded a scholarship to continue his education in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
Kwasi left the United Kingdom to continue his education at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)degree and subsequently a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in political science in 1982 from the University of Manitoba.
Kwasi furthered his education by studying at the Anglia University in Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom in 1987, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree, LL.B (Hons) in 1990.
Kwasi also holds a post-graduate certificate in Regulatory Law Administration, a program he pursued in Toronto from 1990 - 1991.
In 1982 Kwasi Asare married Rosie Nettie Penner, now deceased in Winnipeg. Rosie was a Practical Nurse before they both married. Kwasi and his wife Rosie moved to Oshawa, Ontario in 1989 where they operated a home for special care, homes that were created for mental health clients.
Kwasi and Rosie retired from their business after 25 years and moved to Newmarket, Ontario. Rosie died on July 05, 2021 in Winnipeg where she had relocated due to a stroke she suffered in 2018.
Kwasi Asare had an unassuming and gregarious personality. He was a Christian of the Methodist faith. He was kind and well loved by his family, in-laws and friends. Kwasi died in Newmarket, Ontario on January 05, 2022 after a short illness. Kwasi’s family, in-laws and friends are gutted as we say farewell to our beloved one.
