Born to Samuel and Carmelina Capone in Toronto, Ontario on July 11, 1936. Joe and his older brother, Cosmo, were proud members of the De La Salle drum corps and looked back on those years fondly. In 1953, Joe met the love of his life, Della. They married in 1957, had two daughters, Linda and Lorie, and built a life together in Scarborough. Joe started at Briggs & Stratton as a stock boy, became a salesman, and worked there until he was 70 years old.
Despite some challenging times, losing his wife and eldest daughter much before their time, Joe will be remembered as a loyal and dedicated family man. ‘Grampa Joe’ had a special relationship with each of his grandchildren, seeing most of them weekly throughout their entire childhood. He also got great joy from seeing his grand babies have babies of their own and was a proud great grampa.
Joe will be remembered and greatly missed by his daughter, Lorie; six grandchildren, Julie, Michael (Mae), Cassandra (Andras), Robert (Rebecca), Jacquelyn (Derek), and Emily; five great grandchildren, Maximus, Marcus, Mackenzie, Rowen, and Declan, and the remaining Capone family. He is predeceased by his wife, Della; daughter, Linda; brother, Cosmo and sister-in-law, Matilda.
The family wished to sincerely thank Dr. Finkelstein and the entire ICU staff at Birchmount Hospital for their excellent care.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held prior to the service at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave., West Hill, ON, at 12:30 p.m. A casual reception will be held following the graveside service and that family’s home.
