Derek William Cornell passed away peacefully after a long battle with illness at Scarborough General Hospital on May 1, 2019. He is survived by his children Annette Corps, Paul Cornell (Susan), and Sharon Cornell (Doug), his grandchildren Kimberly Banks (Kyle), Shawn Corps, Cameron Cornell, Tyler Cornell, Brandon Cornell, and Steffany Hill (Michael), his great grandsons Lincoln, Bodhi, and Liam, and his great granddaughters Haley and Olivia.
Derek was born on September 16, 1933 to William and Rose (nee Standing) Cornell, who have both predeceased him, in England. He rejoins his wife of over 20 years, Patricia, in eternity along with his son Wayne.
He will always be remembered for his passion for sailing, flying, and for his adoration of his faithful dog Winnie.
A Celebration of Derek's life will be held Tuesday May 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave East, Scarborough.
