Born in Hamilton as the oldest of four boys to Jean and Campbell Bower on April 3, 1943. Dave’s education included Waterdown High School, McMaster University (BSc) and OISE (MEd). As a teacher he used humor (puppets) and his vast knowledge to educate young minds at high school as well as baseball diamonds, hockey rinks and most importantly at home.
Beloved husband to Valerie Bower (McAlpine) for 47 years and very loving father to Karen Bower and Brian Bower. He was a rock to his children and #1 support to his wife Val. He was a grandad to Karen’s children Jacob and Benjamin Gorny and considered a second father by Peter Gorny. The first thing the grandkids would say when coming to visit was “Where is grandad?!” He was a loving brother to Doug (Hanita), Eric (Janet) and Ken (Jeanine) Bower and extended family.
David’s generosity, strength and spirit kept us all close while his quirky sense of humour would constantly make us all laugh. Throughout his life he enjoyed being active, playing and watching sports, travelling, teaching, investing, dad jokes and the latest technology. Recently, when Dave and Val weren’t travelling the world taking photos, he would go biking with Val, enjoying time with the whole family, working on his investment portfolio and watching sports on the world’s largest TV.
He will be missed by so many and never forgotten.
