Daniel Ernest Stewart

staff at Tony Stacey Centre for Veterans Care on Jan. 10, 2021. He will be going home to join his

pre-deceased parents Donald (1999) and Mildred (2002) and many of his relatives at Greenwood

Cemetery in Glace Bay Nova Scotia.

He leaves behind him his two sibling families, Gus ( Alex) and their daughter Amanda Ajax, Doug (Debbie) London Ontario and his family Kate(Robbie) Vancouver, Jeff(Laura) California. We all share fond memories of times we got to spend together as a family with Daniel. He will be dearly missed.

Daniel always put family first his whole life. Either as a devoted son helping to make ends meet or an

older brother taking to time to mentor you in sports that he loved so much. He was a man of strong convictions in his printers union; a good friend to his neighbors. A man with a love for Canadian history, well read and an extensive library of related books to show for it.

Although he lived in Toronto for most of his life his roots were always in Nova Scotia and he will once again join his relatives overlooking the Atlantic ocean. Our brother had not only a passion for golf and hockey he excelled at both and was a great mentor for us growing up. We loaded up our parent’s house with trophies everywhere. Gordie Howe was indeed the greatest of them all to our brother but he did allow some wiggle room for Sidney Crosby in his later years. He taught us both games and the same love and respect he had in the sport. We owe him a lot as do many who got to know him well.

We will miss him but we know he will be in good hands resting with family and we take with us those same passions he possessed; caring more about making sure everyone is looked after before tending to one’s own needs.

They are desperately trying to update the home and expand to meet government standard and to make the home viable to exist in the near future.
