Over the past several years, Alzheimer Disease stole the creative mind of a writer, mother, grandmother and wife. On November 15, 2022, it took her body and broke the hearts of family and friends. She was published in many Canadian and international periodicals, wrote plays for television and film and had been a broadcaster with CBC-TV. An early pioneer on public service projects, she was the co-founder of Project 80 in Montreal helping underprivileged children break out of the cycle of poverty. Her international best seller, Damaged Angels, caught the imagination of parents and professionals around the world on the devastating impact of prenatal alcohol exposure on our children. As co-founder of FASworld Canada, she was awarded Canada’s Meritorious Service Medal by the Governor General in 2015 for her work with families coping with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). Bonnie is survived by her husband Brian Philcox, daughters Cleo and Colette, and grandchildren Kenny and Vicky.
