William H. Schultz Sr., age 78, of Harwich, Massachusetts passed away at home with his loving partner by his side, Lori Dee Miller, on Sunday July 23rd, 2023. Born October 29, 1944, in New Jersey, he was the son of the late John Schultz, and the late Ella Schultz, and father to William Schultz Jr. of Warren, NJ, and Steven Schultz of Crawford, CO.
Bill was a graduate of North Plainfield High School and at 30 became the President and CEO of the family business, Gorkin Glass Inc., located in North Plainfield New Jersey. He was a third-generation owner of the 100-year-old business when he successfully passed it on to the fourth- generation. During his distinguished career, he designed and installed hundreds of residential and commercial projects, including all the glass work in the buildings at the base of the Statue of Liberty in New York. He worked at the firm for 50 years before retiring to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Bill enjoyed spending time outdoors. His passion for fishing took him all around the world, but his love of the local Cape waters always brought him home. Bill has fished at Cape Cod, Nantucket, and the Vineyard since he was a boy, and some places are even named “Bill’s spot.” He has appeared in fishing magazines and a documentary about the Yellowfin Tuna industry. He enjoyed many trips with his family and friends, from fly-fishing in world renown spots, to his favorite area on the Gunnison River in Colorado. From bone fishing the flats in Caicos and Florida, to deep sea fishing hundreds of miles out to sea. Wherever he was, Bill always shared his vast knowledge and his skills as both a fisherman and a boat Captain.
Bill will be forever missed by his son, William Schultz Jr. and his wife Mercedes; his son, Steven Schultz and his wife Vendla; grandchildren, Mikhaela, Coleman, and Lucas Schultz; brother, John “Jack” Schultz; his partner, Lori Miller and her sons, Keegan and Leathan Doig.
