Born in Jersey City, NJ on October 2, 1922, he was the son of the late Christian and Olga Anderson.
During WWII, Robert piloted a B-24 Bomber and was a decorated POW. He served his country proudly.
He later went on to work for Farrand Controls in Valahalla, NY as a machinist. His extensive accomplishment included working on the arm of the Space Shuttle. At the time of his retirement in 1981 he was Manager of new Products, he continued on during his retirement as a consultant for Farrand.
After retirement, Robert moved to Cape Cod and built his dream home with his wife Anne. Cape Cod summers were filled with laughter and love his whole family would visit. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed food, travel, reading and photography. He even built his own dark room. More than anything, he cherished the time that he shared with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Anne (Murray) Anderson; his step mother, Rose (Larsen) Anderson; his step brother, Larry Larsen; and his step sister, Doris Larsen.
He leaves behind his two sons, Robert J. Anderson and his wife, Sharon of Mahopac, NY, Brian J. Anderson and his wife, Debra of Sarasota, FL; his daughter, Patricia A. Vizvary and her husband, John of North Augusta, SC; his grandchildren, Kyle Robert Anderson, Kenneth G. Anderson, Abbie E. Anderson, Jodie L. Anderson, Christopher John Vizvary, Anna Marie Vizvary; and his companion, Barbara Weber of Eastham MA.
Friends may call from 2-4 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main Street in West Harwich. A memorial service will follow at 4 pm at the funeral home.
