Born in Troy N.Y. he was the son of the late Barbara Aylesworth Karn & Richard S. Karn Sr... He also was predeceased by his step-son Jason Zatlin of Harwich.
Rick loved the great outdoors: Hunting, fishing, roaming the woods appreciating everything from lady slippers to river stones, trees and ferns, and wildlife.
His favorite place to be was ‘Up to camp’ in Byron, Maine where no matter the season that’s where you’d find him. He welcomed others to share his passion for: snow machines, 4 wheeling, gold panning, and hikes in to Angel Falls or climbing Tumble Down Mountain.
He was a great storyteller always filled with humor and “sometimes ending” with “What happens in Maine-stays in Maine”.
He loved the ocean and fishing with his late brother in law- Chris Green, beaching with friends and family on the surfside and always a volleyball net handy inviting others to join.
Richard lived in Litchfield CT. prior to moving to Cape Cod in the late 70’s and operated a painting business: Richard Karn Painting & Decorating for over 35 years.
He married his wife Deborah in 1982 after a 6 year courtship. Both teetered between ideas but never stopped going forward with each of one’s choices for 47 years.
He leaves his wife Deborah and his beloved companion cat, Ziggy, sister Wendy Green of Bethel ME, sister Beverly Bowker of Rumford ME, brother Douglas Karn and wife Heather of Orleans MA, and his nieces Megan Bowker and Amy Green of Maine.
