Lovingly remembered by her best friend and husband of over 50 years, David A. Nydam, five children: Kimberly, Merridith, Dan, Stephen and Kathleen, and four grandchildren: Archibald, Aysia, Ruth, and Helen.
Kathleen was full of wit, a great teacher and conversationalist, whose captivating storytelling both amused and touched her audience. She appreciated and was inspired by nature, music, and history; her art was filled with themes of flowers, butterflies, and pussy willows.
Throughout her life, Kathleen faced what would be for many, debilitating health challenges. Due to her strong faith, love for God, and devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary, Kathleen overcame these challenges with perseverance and a positive attitude. She lived a productive life full of love and commitment.
Kathleen adored her family time, in particular, breakfasts at the Hearth & Kettle, drives with her husband to Corporation Beach, viewing wildlife in the nearby marshes and any and all moments with her grandkids.
Kathleen was considered by many to be a purveyor of fine things. Her finds of fantastic vintage and antiques led her on the journey to open her own antique and fine collectibles business in Orleans and later in West Harwich. She shared her knowledge of how to assess an item's legitimacy; such as intricacies of markings, weight, quality, and rare depression glass colors with her customers.
Kathleen exhibited her artistic passions through multiple mediums, including oil and watercolor paintings, pencil and charcoal drawings, and most recently needle felting. She was extremely versatile and a master at repurposing items for her various projects.
A beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, those who knew Kathleen felt blessed and appreciated by her unconditional love and support. She was treasured by those who knew her and will be truly missed.
