Reverend John F. Keane, 80 of West Yarmouth MA passed away peacefully on April 26th at the Windsor Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility in South Yarmouth. Born in Boston and raised in Newton, MA, he was a graduate of Newton High School. Upon graduation he entered the St. John's Seminary. He was formally ordained on February 10th 1965 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston by the late Cardinal Richard J. Cushing.
He was predeceased by parents Thomas and Margaret (Mullen) of Newton and by his 2 sisters Mary Francis and Helen Reynolds, as well as a brother Thomas Keane Jr. He also leaves a niece and several nephews as well as friends on Cape Cod and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He will also be remembered by many former parishioners throughout Greater Boston.
Fr. Jack loved to entertain both on the Cape as well as his winter residence in Ft. Lauderdale. Gardening at his West Yarmouth home was one of his favorite pastimes. He loved the Red Sox, the Patriots and was an avid fan and longtime season ticket holder for Boston College football. Fr. Jack served 18 parishes throughout his career in the Archdiocese of Boston. His personal favorite was Chaplain at the Cardinal Cushing School in Hanover, and he served in this capacity for 8 years.
A funeral mass will be held at the Holy Trinity Church 246 Main St, West Harwich, MA 02671 on Thursday, May 9th at 10AM. Interment will follow at the Holy Trinity Columbarium.
