Janet grew up in North Quincy, MA, the daughter of late Helen E. Pangraze and Guido R. Dibona. A graduate of North Quincy High School and Mass General Hospital School of Nursing, she worked as Nurse in the Boston and South Shore areas. She continued her education obtaining her teaching degree from Framingham State Teachers College.
Very proudly, Janet worked as an Operating Room Nurse and general seaman on the S.S. Hospital Ship Hope on it's first voyage to South America, Peru, in the 1960's. She worked with U.S. and South American Doctors, attending to the medical needs of the community and the outlying districts of Peru. She later taught courses in the Operating Room Nurse Program at Quincy Junior College, teaching techniques and skills in the Operating Room. Later in Janet's career she became the director of the Methadone clinic in Yarmouth. Once "retired" she continued working and volunteering on Cape Cod for multiple community organizations and gave time to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod.
Janet truly loved life. She was unique in just how lovely she was, having a gentleness and sweetness that radiated to all those lucky enough to be around her. She was always active, interested, showing kindness, compassion and making you feel special in every way. She adored her dog Pepper and her Kitty and really, any animal that came her way. She loved to putter in the gardens and was always planning another project wish list to create a more special and cozy home for her and Tom. She would tell you differently, but she was a great cook!
Janet is survived by her beloved husband Thomas O'Leary, of Tralee, Kerry County, Ireland. Her Sister Eileen M. Marshall and her husband John, of Hanover, Ma, brother Charles J. Di Bona, and wife Evelyn, of Great Falls Virginia, late brother James R. Di Bona, of Merrimack NH, the late Lewis P. Di Bona of Pebble Beach, CA, and beloved sisters-in-law Olga Di Bona and Betsy Di Bona, nine nieces and nephews as well as her devoted friends Karen Mercer and Tim Blake.
She was cherished and loved by all, and will be sorely missed.
