Eleanor M. Souza

Born on September 2, 1939 in Hyannis, MA, she was the daughter of the late James G. Gomes, Sr. and Anna C. (Lopes) Gomes.

Eleanor was a graduate of Harwich High School. For more than 26 years, she worked for Brewster Manor Nursing Home as a Certified Nurses Aide. She also worked as a Home Healthcare Aide in Naples, FL.

She loved traveling and going to the beach. More than anything, she cherished the time that she shared with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brothers, James Gomes, Jr., Gilbert Gomes, Sr; and her sister, Martha Ann Gomes.

She is survived by her son, Duane A. Souza, Sr. of Harwich, Randall Souza and his wife, Diane of Hyde Park, MA; her grandchildren Duane A. Souza, Jr. of Mashpee, Jaimi A. Rose of Falmouth, Lauren Souza of Hyde Park, Delaney Souza of Hyde Park, Cameron Souza of Hyde Park; her siblings, Richard E. Gomes, Sr. and his wife, Shirley of Harwich, Adeline Jean Monteiro of Harwich, Patricia Gail Fernandes and her husband, Barry of Harwich, Kathy M. Mello of Harwich, Stephen Gomes and his wife, Diane of Harwich; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4-8 pm on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main Street in West Harwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Holy Trinity Church, 246 Route 28 in West Harwich. Burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery in Harwich.
