

She was the beloved wife of the late Carl H. Rahe.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 1, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Edward Johnston Palmer and Marion Alma (Cox) Palmer.
Betty was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Indianapolis and an associate member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Harwich. Betty was past Matron of Queen Esther Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Social Order of the Beauceant and a member of the Daughters of the Nile.
Betty was a life long night owl who loved 40’s Big Band music, nature, pets, history, and travel. She was an avid reader, and even when her vision deteriorated, Betty kept up with her reading through listening to books on tape and kept abreast of current events and sports through her beloved radio. Not having had any siblings, Betty took joy in staying in touch with her extended family and childhood friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Marianne O’Boyle, and her husband, William, of West Yarmouth, her daughter, Caroline Rahe, of Manchester, NH, granddaughter, Julie O’Boyle-Preble, grandsons, Tony Rahe, Ryan O’Boyle and Matthew O’Boyle; great grandchildren, Nicole Rahe, Aibhilin Preble and Garrett Rahe. Betty was predeceased by her granddaughter, Amy O’Boyle.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in Harwich on Sunday, July 5 from 4-7 pm. Funeral service to be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 310 Route 137, Harwich on Monday, July 6 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro on Tuesday, July 7 at 11:00 am.
