Timothy Charles Titus was a loving Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Friend, and Businessman, who passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020. He was born December 27, 1967 in Fort Dodge, IA, and grew up in Ames, IA.
Tim learned many things from his Dad, and friend, Gary, who passed away a few years ago and truly enjoyed spending time with his mother, Marilyn, who resides in West Des Moines. He looked forward every year to the Chocolate Waffle cookies she would send on Valentine's Day. Tim was the older brother to Mark, Jay, and Beth and he made sure to never let them forget the fact that he was the oldest.
Tim loved cooking, fishing, running, and biking. He went on several RAGBRAI trips with his brother, Mark. He also shared a love for a variety of music along with his brother, Jay.
Tim started his own company with his partner, Doug. The company serves clients in several states and has employed several people over the years, which included his brothers, cousins, and Kathy’s brother, Ted. Two of his favorite “employees” were his dogs, Daisy and Izzy - they went with him everywhere.
Tim met his wife, Kathy in 1997 and they spent 23 incredible years together. Together they had two kids, Ella (20) and Charlie (18). Tim and Kathy loved to travel together, spending time with their many friends. They loved watching Charlie and Ella become the amazing young adults that they are today.
Tim loved being a part of Charlie and Ella’s passions. He bowled with Charlie and they spent many hours at the “Other Place” watching their favorite sports. A graduate from Iowa State, Tim was an avid Cyclone fan, and he and Charlie would go to every football and basketball game that they could. Tim was so proud, and even cried the day Charlie was accepted to ISU.
Tim worked on sets for Ella’s many dance and theater productions, and along with her fell in love with the Broadway show Hamilton - which he listened to all the time and memorized every word. Charlie and Ella admired how Tim was a patient and excellent teacher of many things. He had to be, he taught both kids how to drive in the Wells Fargo Parking lot.
Tim was personable, intelligent, and a doting and protective father. He was so protective that his face would turn a shade of purple anytime Ella even talked about a date with a boy.
He loved to drive fast cars but discovered that he loved to fly even more. Inspired by Kathy’s aversion to long drives he decided to earn his private pilot’s license, which became one of his greatest passions and proudest accomplishments. The family enjoyed many trips in the plane over the years, including pancake fly-ins at small-town airports. Many of their trips found them at the ocean - his favorite place to be. He loved the beach, the sun, and he loved Jimmy Buffet.
In the words of Jimmy Buffet, “If there is a heaven for me, I’m sure it has a beach attached to it.”
