Sandy Kay Lash, 78, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, in Des Moines. Per her wishes, she will be cremated, and a private graveside service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines at a later date.
Sandy was born August 24, 1943, in Des Moines to Hugh and Laura (Robertson) Nichols. She graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines in 1962. Prior to her retirement, she worked at the family business, Buck’s South Des Moines Auto body and later ran the business after her father retired. She later returned to the workforce at Iowa Auto Damage Appraisers. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing Solitaire, macramé, crafts and watching the birds and wildlife. She and the family enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota and spending time at Sun Valley Lake.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband, Don; daughter, Karie Lash of Des Moines; sister, Dixie Dahl of Mesa, AZ; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Laura.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude’s or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
