Ruth was born December 18, 1931 in Santa Ana, CA to Jay and Lelia Davenport. Ruth was an intelligent, creative and devout person. The daughter of missionaries, she lived in Venezuela until the age of 12. Education was very important in her family (her mother received her college degree in 1915). Ruth received a BA from the University of Dubuque in 1953, and an MS in computer science from De Paul University at the age of 50. She loved counted cross-stitch and it became her salvation during football season and her passion later in life. Ruth was devoted and fully committed to her faith, serving as a choir member, church council member, and lay minister. She loved Dachshunds, including her pets, Doxie, Hansel and Gretel, and her grandpuppy, Dewey.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Robin (Allan) Teetshorn, Sandra (Jeff) Miller, and Tracy (Jim) Jensen; two grandchildren, Matthew Teetshorn (Jaisa Olasky) and Erin (John Hamnett) Teetshorn; and sister, Elizabeth Eggett. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Hugh Davenport; and former husband, Carl Scheffel.
