Ruth Clare, 86, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at her home. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2019 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Cemetery.
Ruth was born October 12, 1932 in Clermont, IA to Arthur and Ethel (Larson) Loftsgard. She graduated from West Union High School. Ruth attended Upper Iowa University, majoring in music. She played baritone and was the first chair in high school and college. Ruth then went on to retire from Prouty Company after 55 years. She earned the Saleswoman of the Decade award along with many others in her career. Ruth loved bowling, watching tennis, playing the piano, reading, playing cards, cribbage, camping, and most importantly spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Ernie Fiscus; children, Cindy (Mike) Gale, Jeff Clare, and Cheri (Philip) Burrell; six grandchildren, Melissa (Rod) Costa, Bethany, Samantha, and Martin (Kim) Gale, Alex and Alaina Glenn; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Becky (Ed) Dunk and Christine Grundman; sister-in-law, Betty Loftsgard; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband of 36 years, Harvey; parents; two brothers, Arthur Jr. and Dennis Lee Loftsgard; sister, Mel (Jim) Barron; and grandson, Joshua Gale.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Cancer Center or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Des Moines.
